Practitioner Support

Through our Practitioner Support Program, Mount Tamalpais College seeks to strengthen the field of higher education in prisons and expand access to high quality college programs for people incarcerated in California and beyond. We hope to encourage open discussion of challenges, share experience and resources, and empower the full range of participants—including students and alumni of these programs—to shape the field.

Our Practitioner Support Program Offers:

  • Training, workshops, and convenings for practitioners and other stakeholders
  • Research analyzing both successes and continued challenges for the field
  • Open source tools and templates for administrators, instructors, researchers, and others involved in higher education in prison programs
  • Storytelling materials that capture life “inside” quality higher education in prison programs

Whenever possible, we also provide one-on-one advising to practitioners and other stakeholders.

By providing educational spaces and open access resources, we aim to build a skilled, knowledgeable, and mutually-supportive professional community.
