College Prep
Our College Preparatory Program, offering five non-credit courses in writing and math, aims to prepare students academically for college-level coursework, to establish a learning community, and to provide an opportunity for students to develop their identities as students, scholars, academics, and community members. Many of our students are reentering the classroom after decades, while others have earned a GED or other high school equivalency certificate. Some have gone through schooling with undiagnosed learning disabilities: our metacognitive learning support offers them the opportunity to take control of their education, often for the first time.
Enrolling at Mt. Tam
If you know someone who is currently incarcerated at San Quentin, or another California prison, and is interested in applying to Mount Tamalpais College, visit our Admissions page to find out more about the process.
Course Catalog
In contrast to correspondence courses offered at most prisons, our courses are in-classroom and discussion-based, and offer transferable credits. Review our full course catalog—including course descriptions and student learning outcomes for credit and non-credit courses.
